The Whippet Club is looking for an experienced and driven Venue Operations & Events Manager to oversee the overall operation and continued growth of our 200-capacity hospitality venue in Leederville.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can manage the entire venue, lead a team, drive sales and develop exciting events and entertainment.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership, think commercially and bring fresh ideas to make the venue a popular destination for food, drinks, functions and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

Venue Operations

• Oversee all daily venue operations and ensure smooth running of the business.

• Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation and hospitality.

• Manage opening and closing procedures, stock control and supplier relationships.

• Monitor operational costs, labour budgets and venue profitability.

• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, workplace health and safety requirements.

Staff & Team Management

• Recruit, train, manage and motivate venue staff.

• Prepare staff rosters and manage labour requirements.

• Build a strong team culture and maintain accountability.

• Lead by example and support staff during busy service periods.

Events & Entertainment

• Plan and coordinate regular events, DJs, live music and special occasions.

• Develop creative event concepts to attract new customers.

• Manage entertainment bookings, performers and event schedules.

• Oversee event setup and ensure successful delivery of events.

• Explore opportunities for partnerships and collaborations.

Sales & Business Development

• Drive revenue through functions, group bookings and promotions.

• Develop strategies to increase customer traffic and repeat business.

• Identify opportunities to grow food and beverage sales.

• Monitor sales performance and work towards business targets.

• Build relationships with customers, local businesses and event organisers.

Marketing & Promotions

• Work alongside the marketing team to plan promotions and campaigns.

• Generate ideas for social media content and venue advertising.

• Help promote weekly specials, entertainment and upcoming events.

• Maintain a strong and consistent venue identity.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a venue management, operations management or senior hospitality leadership role.

• Strong understanding of bar and hospitality operations.

• Proven staff leadership and team management experience.

• Experience organising events and entertainment.

• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of venue profitability.

• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work flexible hospitality hours, including evenings and weekends.
